The 56-year-old actor - who is to take part in this year's 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' - last portrayed cheeky chappy Alfie Moon on the BBC One soap in January 2019, and he is still in touch with co-stars Jessie Wallace (Kate Slater) and Adam Woodyatt (Ian Beale).

He said: "I would love to go back. I think under the present climate, there are still restrictions at 'EastEnders', but I speak to Jessie a lot and I speak to Adam, we have the same management anyway."

Shane revealed Jessie and Adam have told him it is "tough" filming amid coronavirus pandemic restrictions.

He explained: "They were saying how tough it is at the moment, but I think that is the same for 'Corrie' and 'Emmerdale'.

"It is the same as making game shows or even doing this show ['I'm A Celebrity']."

Alfie departed Walford after borrowing £30,000 from Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) and offering his car up as collateral - but he fled with the motor and supposedly the cash.

However, he later text his estranged wife Kat and told her to check inside the back of a wardrobe, where she found the money.

Instead of handing it back to Phil, she used it to help pay for Jean Slater's (Gillian Wright) cancer treatment.

But this week, Kat has teamed up with Phil as both are in need of a cash injection.

While she had planned for the pair to steal £10,000, he changed the plot last night (12.11.20) and now wants to steal classic cars instead, but they are yet to go through with the theft.

Shane added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Alfie thankfully is still alive and I think he is on the run in Spain and still owes Phil Mitchell some money.

"What is interesting is Jessie said the other week they got a letter from him, so they still talk about him.

"Who knows what will happen next year, it would be lovely. I love the show and I have got such great memories of it."
