Showtime have picked up Shameless US for an eighth season it's been reported, with the series to consist of 12 episodes and debuting at some point in 2017.

The news comes after Emmy Rossum reached a new agreement to continue working on the series, with the actress reportedly demanding at least equal pay to fellow lead William H. Macy.
Rossum agreed to her new contract last week and shared her excitement about remaining a part of the show on her Twitter account.
Though there have already been seven seasons of Shameless to air on Showtime, the series shows no signs of slowing down.
As the network's longest-running show, it recently completed its seventh season and raked in its highest ratings so far.
