'Sex and the City' creator Candace Bushnell wants to "revisit" the characters.
The 56-year-old writer admitted she still wonders what the fictional characters in the show - which was later made into two films in 2008 and 2010 - are doing, hinting she is sure there will be another re-appearance at some point in the future.
When asked if she thinks about Carrie Bradshaw - played by actress Sarah Jessica Parker - and the other characters, she said: "Yeah, I do. I feel like we're going to revisit those characters, maybe in another movie or something, down the road."
However, the author was quick to quash rumours a third film in the franchise is already in production.
She added: "Of course I'll say this and they'll say 'Candace Bushnell says there's going to be a 'Sex and the City 3,' which I'm not: but I would like to revisit them in some way."
Candace - who penned columns about her dating experiences for the New York Observer newspaper in the 1990s, which were later adapted into the show - admitted the characters in the series are important for many people though, so would like to see them return.
She explained to the Independent newspaper: "Those characters are, in a way, part of the psyche of a certain generation of women. It's like the phenomenon of 'Friends'. People really related to the characters in that show and it's the same thing with 'Sex and the City' - we feel like those characters are our girlfriends."
