'How' is set to make a comeback.
The educational programme - which was presented by Fred Dinenage, and the relaunched version 'How 2' was hosted by Carol Vorderman, among others - looks set to be rebooted on ITV, as it is thought a new-look version of the programme could become a "teatime classic" on the channel.
A TV source said: "ITV gave the production team the green light earlier this year and it is in production.
"The show was huge in the 70s and 90s.
"It was designed to provide answers to questions beginning with the word 'how' and answered questions like, 'How do you have a thunderstorm indoors?' "
The reboot is expected to revert back to the show's original name, 'How', when the programme aired from 1966 to 1981.
It was relaunched as 'How 2' in 1990 with the likes of Carol, Fred, Gareth Jones, Gail Porter, and Sian Lloyd all presenting.
In the programme, the hosts would make a raised hand gesture and say "how", as the show was named after the Native American greeting Hau.
However, it is now thought the presenters are "unlikely" to perform the greeting in a newer version of the programme because it may be deemed inappropriate.
The source added to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre TV column: "It seems unlikely they will do the one-hand raise the presenters used to do back in the day, though."
'How 2' - which was also co-hosted by Gail McKenna - was eventually axed in 2006 after 15 series.
