As the third show in the Marvel's Defenders series to launch on Netflix, Marvel's Luke Cage has a lot to prove when it smashes onto the small screen, following the hugely successful releases of Daredevil seasons 1-2 and Jessica Jones season 1.
In the new series, audiences will see the evolution of Luke Cage following his relocation to Harlem, whilst he does his best to pick up the broken pieces of his life and put his dreary past behind him. Unfortunately for him, the past isn't something that's going to loosen its grip on Cage just yet.
Described by Netflix as a "gritty, action-packed drama, grounded in the real world", we'll see Cage use his incredible powers of super strength and unbreakable skin for the greater good, despite becoming a fugitive.
Pulled out of the shadows he'll fight to save Harlem, with Mike Colter in the driving seat as Cage.
He's joined by fellow castmembers Mahershala Ali as Cornell 'Cottonmouth' Stokes, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Shades, Frank Whaley as Rafael Scarfe and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple.
Marvel's Luke Cage is executive produced by series showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker and Jeph Loeb, the latter of whom also serves as Marvel's Head of Television.
Marvel's Luke Cage debuts exclusively on Netflix at 12:01am PT on September 30.
