The 'Goonies' star has signed up to season two of the Netflix series alongside 'Mad About You's Paul Reiser and rising star Linnea Berthelsen.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Sean Astin is set to play Bob Newby, who is "a kindhearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack."

Whilst Paul is "a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a 'clean-up' assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year" called Dr. Owens.

Linnea will play Roman, "an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child." And whilst she does not live in Hawkins itself, she is linked to the strange goings-ons at the town's laboratory.

Meanwhile, Winona is likely to take Linnea under her wing as she previously admitted she feels like a mother to her 'Stranger Things' co-stars.

She said: "Honestly, I felt like Noah [Scnapp] and Charlie [Heaton] were my kids. It was a bit alarming - it happened in an instant, almost like when my niece and nephew were born.

"It was like for the first time in my life I understood how you would jump in front of a bus for this little baby that you don't even know yet. I did feel Charlie helped me a great deal with the emotion. He's a tremendous actor. I also really bonded with Millie Bobby Brown, who plays Eleven. It was great.

"These kids are so incredible and special and talented, and they all love doing what they do. The only thing I could sort of say to them is that getting to do the work is the reward, that life is short and you have to enjoy what you do - and we really, truly did.

"The attention and love we're getting right now is so great, and I want everybody to savour it, but also to remember that it's about the work itself. But really, I would feel presumptuous giving them any advice, because they're already so amazing. I need advice from them actually."
