EastEnders' Scott Maslen is attempting to break Hollywood.
The 42-year-old actor - who announced in February he was quitting the BBC One soap after playing Jack Branning for six years - is swapping Albert Square for the US in a bid to become an international movie star and has his sights set on starring in dramatic action films.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Scott's given his trip to Hollywood a lot of thought and feels he has nothing to lose.
"He's really excited about it and the potential opportunities available to him.
"He's got good contacts in LA and has meetings set up with people in the acting world.
"He's been told he has the right look and screen presence to make it.
"If the initial trip to test the waters proves successful he will consider moving out there permanently with his family."
Scott - who has won the Sexiest Male award at the British Soap Awards four times - previously said he wanted to steer his career in a different direction and focus on new challenges.
He said previously: "I've loved playing Jack, and who wouldn't want to work on one of the most successful British TV series, but I've been offered many other roles and just not been able to explore them in the past, simply because of time and commitments to 'EastEnders', and so now it feels like the time to tread a new path for a while."
