John Barrowman married his long-term partner Scott Gill yesterday (02.07.13)
The 'Torchwood' star and the 50-year-old architect - who have been together for 20 years - entered into a civil partnership in late 2006, but have now formally tied the knot in California after vowing to do so as soon as same sex marriage was legalised in the United States.
John - who was born in Glasgow but emigrated to the US when he was eight - announced his plans to officially wed his beau in a video he posted on Twitter last night.
He said: "It's five after one and we've got our coffee and we're in the car getting ready to leave, because where are we going, Scott?"
Scott turned to the camera and replied "To get married. Yay!"
John then ended the clip with: "We're getting married in the state of California. Thank you Supreme Court, about time you made it legal. See you after we have the ceremony!"
The loved-up couple later shared a picture on Twitter of them holding up a marriage certificate with the caption: "We are now legally married. Thanks for all your great wishes. JB and Scott."
The 46-year-old actor has previously spoken out about starting a family with Scott but has stressed that he wouldn't want to have a baby.
He said: "We haven't ruled out having children ourselves but it depends where my career takes us. We wouldn't want a baby. We'd look at adopting an older child or teenager who might have been in trouble."
