Later this year, Marvel will be adding to their series of television shows with Inhumans; a project which was once slated to be released in the summer of 2019 as a movie rather than an episodic series. Now being brought to life on TV network ABC, a series of big name actors have been announced for the show, with Scott Buck serving behind-the-scenes.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the showrunner explained: “I was so curious to see what their origins were, so I started at the very beginning. Obviously if you look at those comics from the early 60s, they’re a very different tone than what we’re doing. It was fun to see how it all began, but I just continued to leap forward. I have not read all of them, but I continue to look through some of them.”
He added of the characters: “We try to write them as real as possible, and then have fun with the powers when we can. We want their powers to seem like a very natural part of their personality.”
The Inhumans TV series is obviously going to be a huge focal point of the Marvel TV releases, so there’s of course no sign of what the end-game may be here, as there may have been if the story had remained one for the big screen.
One major plus of it being moved to television however is that we’ll get to know these characters on a year-to-year basis if everything goes accordingly. With more chances to fully ingest everything Inhumans will have to offer, we can’t complain.
Inhumans hits ABC in the US this fall.
