Scarlett Moffatt used to be a “pepping tom”.
The former ‘Googlebox’ star - who became famous by sitting at home and staring at the television - was a young voyeur and was once caught spying on her neighbours with a telescope.
Speaking on her podcast 'Scarlett Moffatt Wants To Believe', she said: "As a kid I once asked for, believe it or not, a telescope for Christmas.
“I actually got in trouble once off me mam. I’m going to sound like a weirdo here. But with my telescope you could look into people’s houses and the street that backed on to mine. I used to watch people have their tea and I got in trouble because me dad was like, ‘You can get arrested for that.' And I was like, ‘I’m only nine – I just want to see what they’re having for tea.”
The 32-year-old TV presenter was caught by her parents after they found her “little notebook” where she made “observations about what people were having for tea and apparently that’s a felony”.
Police officer and fiancé Scott Dobinson replied: “In America yeah, but we’re not in America – It’s a crime here, Scarlett ‘Peeping Tom’ Moffatt.”
On the podcast, Scarlett also revealed how her dream appearance on the 'Antiques Road Trip' was ruined by a bout of diarrhoea thanks to a pickled egg and onion bhaji lunch.
Scarlett - who appeared on the BBC programme back in 2021 - revealed: "I love museums and I history, so when I was asked to do 'Antiques Road Trip', I got really excited.
"I’d also had a pickled egg and an onion bhaji for my lunch which, in hindsight, isn’t a good mix. I was in this antiques shop filming and I bent over to look at a plate and I thought, ‘I’m going to s*** myself.’"
