Sarah Snook has gushed she’s found her “soulmate” in husband Dave Lawson.
The ‘Succession’ actress, 35, was pregnant with the 45-year-old Australian actor’s child while shooting the final season of the hit HBO show, and has now told how she met and fell in love with him during a whirlwind lockdown romance.
She says on the Friday (03.11.23) night episode of ‘The Graham Norton Show’ about secretly marrying Dave in the garden of her home in Brooklyn, New York, in 2021 during the Covid pandemic while they were quarantining together: “We were best friends for years and then got stuck in Lockdown together.
“We fell in love, I proposed, we got married, and had a baby all in a short space of time because I felt like I’d been here before – like it was a repeat of something.
“It’s not too big a word to say ‘soulmate.‘”
Sarah’s soppiness is in stark contrast to her frosty Siobhan ‘Shiv’ Roy character in ‘Succession’.
One of her most famous scenes in the show was in the final series when she rants at her on-screen husband Matthew Macfadyen’s character Tom Wambsgans about the state of their marriage.
She told the cast and crew she was pregnant with Dave’s baby just before shooting the harrowing scene.
But despite huge interest in her take on the series, she was barred from talking about it on Graham’s show due to the SAG-AFTRA strike rules on promoting shows.
Sarah first revealed she had married Dave in an interview with Vogue Australia.
She told the magazine: “At the beginning of the pandemic last year, I got locked down in Melbourne with one of my best mates and we fell in love.
“We’ve been friends since 2014, lived together, travelled together, always excited to see each other, but totally platonic.”
“We’ve just never been single at the same time. It’s been a ride. There’s so much heartache and sadness in the world, but on a micro personal level, I’ve been very fortunate.”
The couple revealed in May they had welcomed their first child as Sarah shared a photograph watching the series finale of ‘Succession’, but they haven’t publicly revealed their baby’s name.
‘The Graham Norton Show’ airs on BBC One on Friday, 3 November at 10.40pm and is available on the BBC iPlayer.
