The 40-year-old star was axed from the Channel 4 soap amid a dispute over her OnlyFans account - on which she charges people around £11 a month to view "racier" content - but the Mandy Richardson actress has insisted soap stars aren't all on "massive six-figure salaries".

She said: "There's a huge misconception that people on TV shows earn huge amounts of money, it just isn't the case.

"People talk about massive six-figure salaries but the reality is that if your character isn't in a big storyline for a while you can end up struggling some months."

Sarah admitted she has had times when she didn't know if she would be able to financially make it "through the next month".

She added to The Sun newspaper: "I've definitely experienced that myself. There are periods I haven't known how I was going to get through the next month."

The star took to her social media yesterday (04.11.21) to thank fans for their well wishes after she was axed from the soap.

She simply wrote: "Thanks for all your support"

Sarah joined adult subscription site OnlyFans last month, and admitted some fans would "find it shocking", but said she wanted to move her "sexier, racier images to another platform".

But 'Hollyoaks' bosses revealed this week that Sarah is departing the soap after they couldn't "reach a resolution" with her over her OnlyFans site.

A Channel 4 spokesperson explained: "'Hollyoaks' is a youth-facing drama with many young viewers, who follow our cast very closely, both in the soap and outside of it.

"We take our responsibility to our young audience very seriously and therefore the show does not allow any 'Hollyoaks' cast members to be active on certain 18+ websites.

"We had hoped we could reach a resolution with Sarah that would allow her to remain in her role as Mandy, but we respect her choice to continue to produce content on OnlyFans.

"In the past four years since her return to the show, her legacy character has been an integral part of some our most important storylines and we will be very sad to see her go."

The actress previously explained that she was joining OnlyFans to "take back control".

She said: "The older I get the more cathartic it is to take back control, to put healthy boundaries in place and to know my worth and my value.

"That's what this is about, being in control, choosing empowerment. I feel sexy and strong and confident when I shoot images like this, I hope I give other women the confidence to own it."
