Sandra Redknapp suffered a miscarriage in 1969.
Sandra - who is the wife of soccer coach Harry Redknapp - has revealed she tragically lost a baby while she was 12 weeks pregnant and that her husband was "away playing football" at the time.
She told OK! Magazine: "Harry was away playing football when I had the miscarriage. Not many people know about it. I did think to myself, 'Have I opened up too much?' but if it helps someone that’s all that matters. "
Sandra - who has Mark, 52, and Jamie, 49, with Harry - found solace in knowing she was “not alone” in her experience.
Despite this, Sandra and Harry - who raved about his wife during his winning stint on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’ in 2018 - didn't know what to do at the time.
Reflecting on the heartbreaking experience and how she deal with it, Sandra explained: "It’s nice to know you’re not alone. Back then nobody talked about it and I don’t think anyone knew how to handle it, especially men."
Meanwhile, Harry recently revealed that he started to think "sinister things" amid his wife's battle with COVID-19.
The former Tottenham Hotspur manager admitted to being really worried at the height of Sandra's health struggle.
He said: "The symptoms weren’t good, if I’m truthful. You start to think about all kinds of sinister things. It’s been a real worry.
"Sandra has suffered. Her voice had packed up and she was struggling for breath. Even swallowing food became difficult. She could choke on food easily if we weren’t careful."
