The 38-year-old actress - who plays Maria Connor in 'Coronation Street' - has revealed Sylvain Longchambon is skipping the upcoming series due to the unique circumstances surrounding the show amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Samia - who has Yves, five, with Sylvain and Freya, ten, from a previous relationship - told 'Lorraine': "He's not going to be on this time.

"Unfortunately he's not going to be one of the pros this year, because at the time when the producer was signing all of the pros a few months back, she needed to get all the pros signed before they got the celebs signed. So he would've had to have signed a contract knowing there was a good chance he might be based in London for a few months.

"It just doesn't work for us as a family, with my job and his other job, because he's a personal trainer when he doesn't skate. So he really needed to be based in Manchester, especially with Covid and all the situation with the country."

Sylvain has signed up for 'The Real Full Monty', which is geared towards raising awareness for cancer charities.

But Samia jokingly warned Lorraine Kelly that she's unlikely to see her husband strip off on the show.

The soap star - who has been married to Sylvain since 2016 - quipped: "I'm not sure he'll be naked, though, Lorraine. I'm not sure he'll be stripping off!"

Samia competed on the ITV show back in 2013, when she was partnered with Sylvain.

And Faye Brookes, her former 'Coronation Street' co-star, is also set to appear on the programme.

Asked what advice she could offer her, Samia said: "You just need to throw yourself into it, experience it and enjoy it for what it is.

"It's a TV show, you get to learn a new talent ... I don't know it talent is the right word when I think of myself and what I got from it!"
