Sam Quek is expecting a baby girl.
The former Olympic hockey player and ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ star has revealed she and her husband Tom Mair are set to become parents for the first time, just months after they endured a devastating miscarriage.
She said: "It’s been quite surreal because we’ve kept it private.
“Being able to talk about it, it now feels real. I’m really, really excited.”
The couple - who wed in 2018 - kept their miscarriage a secret, and Sam, 32, has now admitted she felt “guilt and shame” over losing her baby.
She added to OK! magazine: "I didn’t want to speak to anyone. I had guilt and shame that it was my fault.
"I was looking back at everything I did during pregnancy and replaying every single minute.
"I put it all on me and my body. But I never said that to Tom at the time.”
Sam and her husband eventually had a “huge row” three months after her miscarriage, which helped to clear the air between them and led to them trying again for a baby.
And after spending more time together amid the coronavirus lockdown, Sam fell pregnant, and the couple are now set to become first-time parents in February.
Sam previously appeared on ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!’ back in 2016, where she finished in fourth place, and during her time on the show, she sent Tom - who was her boyfriend at the time - secret messages telling him she loved him.
The sports star was banned from speaking to anyone from the outside world while she was trapped in the camp for three weeks, but still managed to tell her beau she loves him on the sly by writing the numbers "143" on her hat.
And when she was booted from the show the day before the final, Tom returned the sweet gesture by carving "143" into a series of rose petals scattered on their bed.
