Sam Aston and his wife Briony are expecting a baby boy.
The 'Coronation Street' actor has revealed he and his partner - who announced her pregnancy last month - have found out the sex of their baby, and they are looking forward to becoming parents for the first time.
He told OK! magazine: "We're having a boy! It was a massive surprise when we found out, as there are loads of girls in our families, so we were adamant we were having a girl."
While the 26-year-old soap star - who plays Chesney Brown on the ITV soap - wasn't allowed to sit alongside his wife when she saw the consultant, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Briony made sure they both found out at the same time.
She added: "We found out the day before lockdown.
"Sam couldn't come with me because of the current rules, so I got the consultant to write the sex on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope and we both then sat in the car and opened it together. We were over the moon."
The couple's son will be their first child together, and they're both keen to have a "big family".
Sam said: "We'd like a big family. I'm one of nine children and I'm grateful to be part of a huge family as it's magical, but I'm not sure we'll go to nine.
"That's a lot of children and financial commitment. Let's not forget I have five children on-screen too!"
And his wife agreed, admitting: "Our house isn't big enough for that many but we want to fill our house with children. I'd like a big family."
The loved-up pair have known each other since their mid-teens, and although their first attempt at romance ended in failure - due to the long-distance nature of their relationship - they bumped into each by chance years later at a drama workshop.
The actor - who joined 'Coronation Street' back in 2003 - previously recalled: "I was teaching and Briony was in the room next door. I think she might have given me a funny look when I first walked in, but we soon got past that and straight away we got talking.
"We went for a meal that night at a country pub and that was it. We've been together ever since."
