Sally Dynevor is "scared" about people seeing her for who she is on 'Dancing on Ice'.
The 58-year-old actress is used to "hiding behind a character" on 'Coronation Street' after 35 years of playing her iconic alter-ego Sally Metcalfe, but she admits it will be "nice" for viewers to see what she is like in real life on the ITV ice skating series.
She said: "I like the idea of people to see me for who I am after all these years.
"I’m quite private and I’m not very good at putting my head above the parapet, so this for me is massive.
"That scares me a little bit because I’m very used to hiding behind a character and just being part of 'Coronation Street' but it will be nice for people to see me as me and not as my character."
Sally admits 'Dancing on Ice' is the "scariest thing" she's done in her life, but she hopes the show will give her a confidence boost.
She said: "I think this will be really good for my confidence.
"I don't have much confidence in myself and I just think if I can do this, if I can skate on a live show, then I’ll just feel like I can do anything.
"It's really important to me at this age, to face my fears.
"A couple of years ago I probably wouldn’t do anything that was scary but as I get older I think I’ve just got to face my fears and do it."
Sally has also sought advice from her 'Corrie' co-stars Brooke Vincent (Sophie Webster) and Samia Longchambon (Maria Windass), who have both competed on the show before.
She explained: "They said that I would absolutely love it but to be prepared to work really hard, they said that it's going to be really hard but that I will just really enjoy it.
"That’s what I’m going to do, I’m going to document everything and write it all down and just really enjoy the experience that is once in a lifetime."
