Ruthie Henshall refused to get "excited" about joining 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' this year - because she expected the show to be cancelled.
The Magic Radio presenter - who fronts the company's digital station Magic at the Musicals - headed into Gwrych Castle last night (17.11.20) to join the campmates for the current series, and shortly before she went in, the West End star admitted she was feeling both "excitement and trepidation".
Speaking to Ronan Keating and Harriet Scott on the 'Magic Radio Breakfast Show' on Wednesday (18.11.20), she said: "With lockdown and Covid, I expected someone to say it can’t happen this year.
"So, I haven’t let myself get excited about it. When I say excited…
"I am really excited about doing it and the opportunity to be shoved in that type of situation with all those people appeals to me greatly, but of course there are things that don’t appeal to me like trials and eating certain things. So, there is excitement and trepidation."
When it comes to getting used to life in the Welsh castle, Ruthie admitted she was nervous about "conflict" in camp, and the trials themselves.
She added: "Definitely the eating thing. We don’t want to talk about my gag reflex.
"I think I am alright with creepy crawlies, but you never know until you are in that situation.
"If there is one in my house, I am not particularly adult about it. I do get like a squealing child.”
Ruthie and fellow newcomer Russell Watson filmed their first trial, Stage Fright, on the show last night, and it will be broadcast on this evening's (18.11.20) episode.
