The TV presenter finished ninth on last year's series of the BBC ballroom competition, and she's given the 56-year-old presenter - who will also team up with Anton du Beke - some tips for the contest.

Speaking on ITV's 'Loose Women', Ruth said: "It was all practical [advice], like she said, 'What about blisters?'

"I never got a single blister, because I put blister plasters on before i started even my rehearsal. I thought once you get a blister, you can't get rid of it."

Opening up on the moment the celebrities get to meet each other and the professional dancers for their first rehearsal together, the star also explained the process behind the scenes.

She said: "It's like speed dating. So all the female celebrities are in a circle, and they put all the male pro dancers around the outside, start some music and they you dance with each one of them.

"Then they move round, and you dance with the next one. The producers were all walking around."

Meanwhile, Susannah was "so happy" to be partnered with the 'Strictly' legend and joked she would welcome "the Strictly curse" now she has teamed up with Anton.

She said: "I'm so happy I cannot tell you. I want someone with an evil sense of humour and he's got it! Bring on the 'Strictly' curse. I'm with God himself."

Whilst Anton added: "We get on like a house on fire."
