Ruth Jones teases excited 'Gavin and Stacey' fans by telling them most of the characters will be killed off in a helicopter crash when they pester her for spoilers about the last-ever episode.
The 57-year-old actress - who co-created the beloved BBC Three sitcom with James Corden, 45 - jokingly tells fans of the show their favourite characters meet a grizzly end when they ask about plot points for the 2024 festive finale, which will air on Christmas Day (25.12.24).
During an appearance on the 'Brydon And...' podcast alongside her fellow 'Gavin and Stacey' castmate Rob Brydon, 59, Ruth - who is currently performing in the musical 'Sister Act' in London's West End - said: "At the end of 'Sister Act', I go out of the stage door and people and there’s often people there wanting programmes signed, which is lovely.
"But to a man, they’ll say, 'I’m the biggest 'Gavin and Stacey' fan' or, 'Thank you so much for this Christmas Special,' or, 'You must be so excited, I can’t wait until Christmas'.
"A couple of people at the stage door, say, 'What’s going to happen, is Smithy going to say yes?'
"And I go to them, 'Do you seriously want me to tell you what’s going to happen in the Christmas Special?' And they go, 'Yes!'
"And I go, 'But you don’t, because what happens on Christmas Day when you come to watch it, you’ll know what’s going to happen.' And they go, 'Please tell me'.
"So, I go, 'There’s going to be a helicopter crash, most of the cast are going to get killed', and I just make stuff up!"
As well as Ruth, James and Rob, all of the main cast - including Joanna Page, Mathew Horne, Larry Lamb and Alison Steadman - are expected to return for the festive one-off.
