The former contestant - who was eliminated from the BBC reality show after losing to The Vivienne in a lip sync battle during the 'Girl Group Battle Royale' episode last week - heaped praise on her former on-screen rivals and insisted they were "so supportive".

She told Digital Spy: "When I watch the US series now I am like 'God, they are so mean to each other!'.

"There really wasn't any of that, there really wasn't any villainous characters, even Vivienne who is being billed as over-confident.

"You are only seeing one side of her and she is actually so supportive, genuinely concerned about everyone doing well."

The 34-year-old queen admitted she struggled to make friends during her time on the show, but she is close to he former co-stars since leaving the "artificial environment".

She explained: "I stuck to myself a little bit, that was down to my own fear and nerves. I'm not great at opening up at the best of times and in that kind of situation, I held myself back.

"We all got along well but it's actually after the show I've made the stronger connections. Me and Divina [De Campo] have had some really good chats and me and Sum Ting [Wong] speak on the phone all the time.

"There's lots of friendships that developed after the show, but during my own time my anxiety prevented friendships.

"But also it's an artificial environment so it's hard to have a natural friendship in that environment."
