‘The Royle Family’ stars Ricky Tomlinson and Sue Johnston are joining ‘Celebrity Gogglebox’.
The 83-year-old star and the 79-year-old actress, who played married couple Jim and Barbara Royle on the beloved ’90s sitcom, will chat through some of the week’s most memorable TV moments alongside famous faces such as Denise Van Outen, 49, Rylan Clark, 34, Mo Gilligan, 35, Nick Grimshaw, 38, and 52-year-old Zoe Ball.
Ricky called the new job a “full circle moment”, saying: “When it first aired ‘Gogglebox’ was called ‘the real Royle Family’ so this is a full circle moment, Sue and I together again, in front of the box!”
‘Gogglebox’ was narrated by ‘The Royle Family’ creator Caroline Aherne before she died aged 52 in 2016 after a lung cancer diagnosis, and the role has now been taken by Craig Cash, 62, who played her character Denise Royle’s husband Dave on the sitcom.
Former ‘Big Brother’ presenter Davina McCall, 55, Chris Packham, 62, and comedian Katherine Ryan are also joining the new celebrity ‘Gogglebox’ series.
The 39-year-old stand-up, who will be appearing alongside her husband Bobby Koostra, 40, told The Sun: “It’s usually just the dogs who get to see us watch TV, so we’re excited to welcome viewers into our home as we decompress in our favourite spot – the sofa.”
“We’ve been huge ‘Gogglebox’ fans for years and we are thrilled to be taking part.”
Katherine has 13-year-old daughter Violet from a previous relationship, as well as 23-year-old month son Freddie and seven-month-old daughter Fenna with her partner Bobby, who she first dated in high school.
She told ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ her and Bobby’s 2019 civil ceremony was “a lovely day”,
Katherine continued: “It’s perfect having a civil partner. We didn’t have a wedding. I didn’t need to put on a white dress and pretend to be a virgin – that ship has sailed!”
