The 30-year-old TV and radio presenter wants MPs to change their targets after the government agreed to place support teams in 36 per cent of schools - but he wants that increased to 100 per cent.
Speaking on 'Good Morning Britain', he said: "To say to someone 36 percent of schools can receive that (help) where’s the hope there? There’s no hope."
Roman recently wrote an open letter to the government, calling for more mental health support in schools, but he is yet to receive a direct response.
However, he has inspired the government to change their target.
He added: "They haven’t responded to me directly but they’ve come back and they’ve gone, ‘We’ve moved it, it might go to 50 per cent. We’ll place mental health support teams in 50 per cent of schools by 2025.'
“My question would then be if that is a 50/50 chance that your child is going to receive proper mental health care, a space for them to go to if they’re feeling anxiety depression or suicidal thoughts.
“If you had two children in front of you and each of them is saying that they are feeling this way, how do you decide who is going to get the help?”
'GMB' presenter Susanna Reid replied: "That’s a jaw-dropping way of putting it."
Roman's campaigning comes after he was left devastated by the death of his fellow Capital FM worker, Joe Lyons, who took his own life aged 31 in August 2020.
