Robert Lindsay has quit 'Line of Duty'.
The 63-year-old actor agreed to take on the lead role as Deputy Chief Constable Mike Dryden in the second series of the BBC drama, but after just two days on set in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the star decided to pull out following a disagreement with producers over his character.
Simon Heath, executive producer, told The Sun newspaper: "It was a mutual decision. Sometimes you have different views of the part and you agree to disagree.
"Once we made a decision we needed to find someone else. But because of the nature of the show there were other scenes we could film in the meantime."
Despite the 'My Family' star's abrupt exit, producers insist he will still be paid for his efforts, which is said to be a staggering £50,000.
Mark Bonnar - who starred as Bruno Jenkins in 'Casualty' - is said to be replacing Robert in the drama.
World Productions are adamant the show - which pulled in over four million viewers last year - is still on track to be screened on BBC Two later in the year.
