The ‘Gavin and Stacey’ actor, 58, was so convincing during the April Fool’s Day prank for a two-and-a-half-hour slot in 2011 Ken’s sister called him concerned he was drunk.
Rob said in an appearance with Ken, 72, on his ‘Brydon and’ podcast: “I find that sort of thing easy and so enjoyable, that’s the thing.
“Pete Serafinowicz did Terry (Wogan) and then one bit I started drifting towards Terry’s voice and had to try and get back to Bruce.”
During the prank, listeners and PopMaster contestants were treated to a slightly unorthodox version of Ken, with his sister calling to say: “He must be drunk, get him off there.”
The real Ken joined right at the end of the show, introduced by Rob’s fake Ken as his “brother Kenn, with two ns”.
Ken – who recently left his longstanding BBC Radio 2 slot for Greatest Hits Radio – said: “For the entire programme, an act of absolute brilliance if I may say, just real genius.
“Nobody in my family knew, just my wife, because I was home in the beginning of the show.”
