Rita Simons rehearsed a panto and a play for an hour a day on 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' - in the show's medical hut.

The 44-year-old actress had booked jobs in 'Sleeping Beauty' in St Albans and 'The House on Cold Hill' following her stint on the ITV reality show in 2018, so she spent some of her time in the jungle learning her lines.

Speaking to new! magazine, she said: "I did unbearable amounts of work back to back for years. I think the craziest thing I did was going into the jungle and while I was there I rehearsed for a panto and a play in the medical hut for an hour a day.

"I would then lie in my hammock and go through lines.

"I flew home from Australia and the next night I opened a panto and did a six-week run. In my lunch breaks, I had to learn lines for the play.

"Panto was 12 shows a week and then I finished and started rehearsals for the play the next morning and went on tour for six months. I had a tiny break then I went into 'Everybody's Talking About Jamie', then back into panto, then 'Hairspray'."

The former 'EastEnders' star - who has 15-year-old twins Jaimee and Maiya with Theo Silveston - needed a break by the time she began rehearsals for the play and, if she was to go on tour again, she would like to take her kids with her.

She said: "I'd be on stage in rehearsals for 'The House On Cold Hill' and I'd think, 'I need a break.'

"I'd hardly see my kids as they were in bed when I got home and at school when I woke up. If I tour again, I want my kids there as much as possible."
