Ricky Hatton has been voted off Dancing On Ice

The former boxer was "gutted" to be the first celebrity axed from the show after he and partner Robin Johnstone - who first performed last week - faced this week's bottom-placed skater Lou Sanders and her partner Brendyn Hatfield in the dreaded skate-off but failed to impress the judges.

Speaking after the vote, he said: "I'm gutted to be going home, I've tried to be a winner in all my life and everything I've done - it's been a while since I saw the second round.

"I think I will carry on skating, I may have gone out in the first round but I've had a great time and met some wonderful friends.

"I'd like to thank Robin and the coaches for their hard work and even though I'm going home in the first round, I'll be going home happy."

All four judges opted to save Lou and Brendyn.

Ashley Banjo said: "Both of you levelled up not even once but probably two levels from your original skate so both of you should be proud, especially you Ricky. But based on the content and the skating, I'll save Lou and Brendan."

Oti Mabuse added: "My vote is going to the strongest skate, the one with the most content."

Christopher Dean said: "Ricky, far more content and feeling but it is about the skating so tonight I'm saving Lou and Brendyn."

This week's head judge, Jayne Torvill, confirmed she'd have also opted to send home Ricky and Robin.

She said: "I would have saved Lou and Brendyn because it was a much better performance."

While the first two weeks of the show had seen the couples split into two groups of six, next Sunday (28.01.24) will see all 11 remaining pairs take to the ice for Movie Week.
