Ricky Gervais is making an animated series because “filming is a hard slog”.
'The Office’ creator foolishly believed that making a cartoon would be a lot easier than the demands on being physically on set, but now he understands he was very mistaken as his next project - which he is yet to publicly announce - is taking "a long time" to put together.
The 62-year-old comedian told fans in an online question and answering session: “Yes, I do. We started it, and it’s gonna take a long time ‘cos it’s animation. It won’t be finished until next year. I don’t think there’s anything like it.
“I did animation ‘cos I thought, ‘I’m getting old now’ and filming is a hard slog. I thought, ‘Animation, that’s easy.’ It’s not. I’ve been a fool.”
Ricky recently admitted that he “could hardly walk” after performing his new stand-up show ‘Armageddon’ in Birmingham when he was “a bit under the weather”.
He wrote on social media last month: "I was a bit under the weather on stage last night, but I got through it.
"Then I didn't sleep due to coughing, sweating, shivering. Felt even worse today. Could hardly walk.
"Also, my teeth feel too big for my mouth. What the f****** Christ sort of symptom is that? Roll on death."
When his followers pointed out that he could be suffering from a bout of COVID-19, the ‘After Life’ star replied that he would supply attendees with face coverings “only if they were really ugly”.
Ricky later gave a health update when he shared that he was feeling “ a lot better”.
He added: "Thanks for all your 'get well soon' wishes. They worked. I feel a lot better today. That's the last time I eat sweet and sour bat before a gig."
