Rebecca Sarker has teased 'Emmerdale' fans there will be "more revelations" to come after last night's (28.01.21) bombshell that Manpreet Sharma previously jilted village newcomer Charles Anderson.
The soap star's character was shocked to see Charles - played by Kevin Mathurin - in the village, 15 years after she was engaged to him but disappeared on the day of their wedding because she was already married.
Rebecca said: "There are going to be more revelations coming up, about why … explaining her behaviour, basically. I hope that the viewers will empathise with her.
"There’s quite a lot that went on. It’s not an excuse, it explains her behaviour.
"She didn’t go on Ashley Madison, that website for extra-marital affairs, and decide, 'Oh I’ll have him.' "
Away from the Dales, Rebecca admitted she hasn't had any "meaningful contact" with her parents "for a while", due to the coronavirus pandemic, and she hopes things will improve soon.
She said: "I haven't seen them for a while. Not properly, I haven't had any meaningful contact for a while.
"Hopefully when all this is over we can be a proper family again."
Rebecca previously played Nita Desai in 'Coronation Street', the sister of her 'Emmerdale' co-star Chris Bisson's character Vikram Desai.
And she still has Chris in her phone under his former 'Corrie' character's moniker.
Speaking on 'Lorraine', she joked: "I just can't seem to get rid of Chris.
"Interestingly, he's still in my contacts in my mobile phone as Vik, because of course he played Vikram [Desai]."
