Ranvir Singh has admitted it was "touch and go" whether 'Strictly Come Dancing' would air on Saturday (31.10.20), after Boris Johnson's press conference was delayed.

The prime minister addressed the nation over the weekend to announce another lockdown amid the coronavirus pandemic, and while the afternoon-scheduled announcement was delayed until 7pm, Ranvir - who is the political editor on 'Good Morning Britain' - admitted the BBC were "determined" to keep the Latin and ballroom programme on air.

When asked how difficult it was when Boris' press conference was delayed, she said: "I was going, 'I'm willing to step into the brink and do breaking news and then break out into a dance to cheer everyone up.'

"It was a bit touch and go, but they were determined that 'Strictly' would stay on air.

"Because they definitely felt the nation needed it."

Ranvir has had to put her foot in a bandage today (02.11.20) because it is "so sore" after her first-ever routine, the quickstep, on Saturday's show.

Speaking on 'Good Morning Britain', she added: "I've got my foot in a Tubigrip and I'm only wearing slippers today, honestly my foot is so sore.

"But it's much harder than it looks, that's the thing with 'Strictly'. You've got to make it look easy, and it's not."

Last week, Ranvir had to soothe her feet in icy cold water while she was co-hosting 'GMB'.

She said of training: "This week two malarkey is really hard. You've got hardly any days and you are learning a whole new dance."
