The 43-year-old presenter - who is set to star on 'Strictly Come Dancing' in the coming weeks - has found it tough being a single parent after she and husband Ranjeet Singh Dehal went their separate ways.

Ranvir - who has an eight-year-old son called Tushaan with Ranjeet - told Woman & Home magazine: "It's hard work being a working single parent.

"I struggle with an enormous amount of guilt with my son and not being there when he goes to school. We're very attached to one another because it's just me and him.

"I do get quite tearful sometimes and I worry he's going to hate me when he grows up because I was never there."

Ranvir explained that she was reluctant to discuss their split in public because she wanted to protect her son.

The 'Good Morning Britain' star is determined to ensure that Tushaan is insulated from speculation and gossip.

Ranvir recently admitted to having mixed feelings about starring on 'Strictly', saying she feels like she's "embarking on a rollercoaster".

Looking forward to the experience, the newsreader explained: "The initial feeling of being confirmed for 'Strictly' is one of complete terror - feels like embarking on a rollercoaster, where you really want to do it but you are equally scared.

"Hopefully after the first dance I will feel exhilarated rather than sick!"

This year's series of 'Strictly' has been delayed until October and will have a limited run of nine weeks rather than 12, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The BBC has also confirmed that contestants will be staying in a hotel for two weeks ahead of pre-recording all of the group dances.
