The 'Great British Bake Off' judge will front new four-part series 'Prue’s Great Garden Plot' on Channel 4, which will see the TV presenter and her husband John Playfair turn their new two-acre space into a garden of her dreams.

She said: "I’m no Monty Don but I’ve been gardening for 45 years and just love it.

"But this garden has to be manageable by a pair of oldies none too keen on kneeling, bending or humping heavy gear.

"So, it’s a robot for the lawn, troughs for the veg, and pots on the terrace. And a fair few disasters."

The show will see the 81-year-old star bidding farewell to her home and landscaped garden of 50 years to finally move in with John.

The couple - who married in 2016 - have downsized to a modern barn they've designed together, but their abode is surrounded by overgrown vegetation, rubbish, rubble and rusting buildings.

Prue will seek inspiration from some of the country's best private gardens as she gets to grips with designing her new horticultural haven.

Viewers will see Prue and John's space begin to take shape over the four episodes, and the green-fingered couple will also offer tips to people looking to make a beautiful garden for themselves.

Clemency Green, Commissioning Editor for Features and Daytime at Channel 4, added: "We are delighted to be joining Prue and John on their ambitious journey and have no doubt that the final result will be absolutely beautiful."

'Prue’s Great Garden Plot' will air later this year on Channel 4.
