Good news for fans of hit TV series Poldark this week, as the show’s official social media accounts confirmed that the period drama would be making its return for a fourth series in the near future.
Aidan Turner who plays the lead role of Captain Ross Poldark actually broke the news at the BFI & Radio Times Television Festival’s Poldark panel yesterday (April 8), where it was also confirmed filming would take place in September of this year.
Meanwhile, the BBC recently revealed the third series of the show would premiere earlier than usual, hitting the small screen in the summer rather than taking its usual debut slot in the autumn.
Turner previously said of the show and his role: “The standard on Poldark is so high and you need to keep it high. But if it continues to be where it’s at, I can’t see a reason why we wouldn’t continue.”
Based on Winston Graham’s 12-book novel series, with series 3 set to take us through the fifth and sixth book in the collection, there could be a lengthy future ahead for the show.
