Piers Morgan was late for ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Wednesday (09.12.20), because he was busy comforting a co-worker who had been involved in a car accident.
The 55-year-old outspoken television personality was late onto the set of the ITV morning show today, leaving his co-host Susanna Reid to read out the latest headlines without him.
And when he got a chance to explain his momentary absence, he revealed he had been busy talking to the show’s make-up artist, who had been involved in a car crash just days earlier.
He told Susanna: “What I was doing, I was in the make-up room and I was having a chat with the make-up artist, Catherine, who unfortunately had a car crash the other day, and I was just giving her my comfort and support - something that hasn’t crossed your mind.
“So I was just showing a little bit of warmth and empathy towards a co-worker and then, of course, a procession of people began smashing the door down going ‘Please, please, any minute now, the weather is going to end!’ And? The world isn’t going to end.”
But his co-host wasn’t impressed by his excuse, and told him: “We’d just quite like you to be here for the beginning of the programme.”
Piers insisted he didn’t “miss anything”.
Susanna then said: “You missed the headlines!”
Wanting to bring an end on their on-air debate, Susanna then sighed: “I hope you wanted to start today with an argument.”
