Phillip Schofield’s wine range with Waitrose has been listed as “unavailable” on the supermarket’s website.
The ‘This Morning’ presenter, 60, put his tasting skills to use in 2020 when he launched his range of wine boxes with the chain.
But Waitrose has now said about discontinuing it: “It’s absolutely normal for us to review our selection from time to time. We haven’t sold this wine for a while.”
It came after customers took the web to claim the range was “undrinkable” – though other shoppers defended Phillip’s range against their negative reviews, with one saying it was one of their favourites.
Before the range was pulled, drinkers could pick from a Falanghina (white), at £24.99 for 2.25litres, and a red, Nero di Troia, “ethically sourced from independent Italian vineyards”.
Phillip said about the launch: “I wanted figures on how eco-friendly box wine was and I wanted it to be good value. The result is something I felt I could really invest in.
“I have really enjoyed the process of sourcing, selecting and now sharing these wines with everyone.
“I don’t think there is anything I have been so passionate about, so I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I do.”
The CEO and co-founder of ‘When in Rome’, Rob Malin, said at the time: “We are very excited about this launch.
“We asked Phillip if he would be keen to choose his own Italian craft wine, which he was really excited by, so we took a number of samples from across Italy and let him choose his favourites.”
The pulling of the wine comes after Phillip and his ITV co-host Holly Willoughby, 41, were slated for allegedly “jumping” the queue to see Queen Elizabeth’s coffin lying in state – though their bosses said they were there for work.
