The 49-year-old star confirmed earlier this month he is to hit the road again, after not performing a live tour since 2010, but even before his run of shows begins, the accounts for his main firm, Hussein Traders Ltd, show he has £22.6 million in investments and is £10.5 million in profit.

A source told The Sun newspaper's TV Biz column: "The accounts just prove what a huge success Peter is.

"His royalties and merchandise still tick along every year, despite his recent inactivity.

"He’s also very savvy with his cash, as he’s made lots of wise investments."

But Peter recently revealed he saved some cash on his comeback advert, by filming it on a mobile phone.

He said: "I put an iPhone down my shorts and put it on Voice Memo so I recorded my sound.

"Tesco spent £12 million on their Christmas advert, but I've done it in 10 minutes on two iPhones."

In the ad, the comedian delivers a roll of carpet to his mum and he is heckled for his love of garlic bread by a couple of fans.

The star revealed it only took 20 minutes to shoot.

He added: "It was hilarious. We were back home in 20 minutes."

The 'Phoenix Nights' star will begin his tour on 2 December at the Manchester AO Arena before visiting arenas in Birmingham, Liverpool, Sheffield, Belfast, Newcastle, Glasgow, and Dublin, before wrapping up in August.

Peter explained that because of the cost-of-living crisis, he has managed to keep ticket prices the same as they were when he last went on tour more than a decade ago.

In a statement, he said: "It's good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there's ever a time people need a laugh it's now.

"And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35 - the same price they were on my previous tour in 2010."
