The 47-year-old comedian hasn't worked full-time since 2017, but he is still the UK’s richest comedian, boasting a fortune worth more than £32 million.

Accounts filed at Companies House show that Good Night Vienna Productions Ltd and Hussein Traders Ltd, his two main companies, have a combined worth of £32,391,479.

And his personal fortune has swelled by a further £950,000 over the latest 12-month period, The Sun newspaper reports.

The 'Car Share' star has made as much as £88,743 a week in the last year, which equates to around £3,000 an hour.

What's more, his latest accounts show the comedy star has got £23,637,971 in the bank, as well as investments worth £8,435,080.

Peter has rarely appeared on TV screens since 2017, when he cancelled his long-awaited stand-up tour for family reasons.

The 'Phoenix Nights' star said at the time: "My family must always come first."

And earlier this year, he was forced to postpone his much-anticipated Dance For Life comeback events due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Announcing the news in March, he said: "Obviously this is disappointing news but well and truly justified given the circumstances.

"We'll get through this, together and then we'll all have a great big dance for life. Stay safe and look after yourselves and the people around you."

The popular comedian had originally planned to stage six shows in Liverpool, London and Manchester in April and May this year.

The dance-a-thon events were being organised in aid of Cancer Research UK and would have been his first live performances since he cancelled his stand-up tour.
