Peter Davison says his TV show celebrating the 'Doctor Who' 50th anniversary has a "better cast" than 'The Day of the Doctor'.
The 62-year-old actor - who portrayed the Fifth Doctor from 1981 to 1984 - decided there was a "gap" in the programming schedule marking the landmark date this weekend and so he decided to make 'The Five Doctors Rebooted'.
Although he won't reveal the full cast list, Peter appears in the show with Sixth Doctor Colin Baker and Seventh Doctor Sylvester McCoy, 70, and believes fans will like what they see.
Speaking during the Regenerations Q&A panel at the 'Doctor Who Official 50th Celebration' on Friday (22.11.13), Peter revealed: "I think there was a gap in the celebration in as far as the content that was available so we decided to fill it really.
"We worked hard on it and it wasn't always easy because it was quite a busy summer for everybody so we had to slot days in here and there. But it's fun. I can't reveal all the people that are in it because they are just so many. But I have to say I think we have the best cast list of any of the content that's available this weekend and that actually includes the 50th anniversary special. I think we have a better cast list than the special."
Sylvester - who joined Peter and Colin at the event held at the ExCel Centre in London - added: "In a way, it was our present to the 'Doctor Who' fans all over the world."
The show is available on the BBC red button from 10:05pm tonight (23.11.13) and also on the official 'Doctor Who' website and later on the BBC iPlayer.
Colin, 70, has nothing but praise for Peter for putting the project together.
He enthused: "I have to say Peter who has masterminded this has done a remarkable job. He should be inordinately proud of it, I know when you (the fans) watch it you're going to place it at the top of your list of best programmes celebrating the anniversary. I know it!"
At the end of the Q&A panel, the three former Time Lords stood on stage in front of thousands of fans holding 'protest' banners, a reference to their show.
'The Day of the Doctor' will air on BBC One tonight and will simulcast in over 90 countries, making the largest drama simulcast in television history. The episode will be dubbed & subtitled in 15 different languages and will be shown in over 1,500 cinemas across the world in 3D.
The special feature-length episode will be released on DVD on December 2 and is available to pre-order form the BBC Shop.
