EastEnders' Perry Fenwick is shocked by the conversations he has with co-star June brown.
The 54-year-old actor - who plays the role of Billy Mitchell in the long-running soap - came away stunned by the "genius" chat he shared with the 90-year-old actress, who portrays Dot Branning, and Jamie Borthwick, who plays the loveable Jay Brown, over a decade a go.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz he said: "The thing about June is she doesn't seem to age at all. For someone who is 90. I've had conversations with Jay before he joined the show and he was nine or 10. But the three of us would have a conversation, and one time we were doing that and I actually had this thought in my head and I thought 'Where else would you have a situation where you've got a 10-year-old, a 40-year-old and an 80-year-old talking about what was on the news last night?' That's the genius of her."
And Jamie regularly hunts down the chain-smoking character on set to talk with her.
He explained: "You all got to see what June is like for us. When we go and speak to her, when she's sat in the make-up chair, or sat on set, or in her dressing room we go and chat to her that is the sort of interaction we get from her."
However, the star feels "incredibly sad" personalities similar to June are "not around" anymore.
He said: "And also it's incredibly sad that characters you have to embrace them because they are not around anymore. And she is just fantastic, and she's an example to every single person on this planet to be working at 90 regardless of whatever industry."
