Paula Lane used to wear a disguise to the supermarket to "have an easier life".
The former 'Coronation Street' actress played Kylie Platt in the ITV soap from 2010 to 2016, and she would don a hat and glasses every time she headed out to buy her groceries to ensure soap super-fans didn't spot her.
She said: "I made a conscious decision from the off to make her very different to me. If I was ever in the supermarket I would put my glasses on and a hat, just to have an easier life.
"People would be quite passionate about it ['Corrie'], and rightly so. You're in their living rooms six days a week now. (sic)"
Paula also wanted to look differently to Kylie, and knew if she liked any of her character's outfits then the Weatherfield resident shouldn't be wearing such clothing, and she asked the make-up team to make her alter-ego look completely different to her own style.
She said: "The lines do get blurred a bit, and I always used to think if I put on one of her outfits that I liked I thought, 'This is wrong.' I wanted to feel really opposite to her, so I always used to get them to put on really smudgy make-up, clumpy mascara, really slicked back hair that I hate on myself.
"It is tricky because when you're playing that part constantly sometimes they do merge a little bit."
Paula was in tears when she exited the soap after Kylie was tragically killed off, and she had to have some private time to mourn her character.
She said: "When I left I said to my husband, 'I'm just going upstairs to have a little weep, and I'll be back down as Paula in a minute.' "
But the 'Kinky Boots' star has set her sights on landing another soap role in the future.
When asked on 'Lorraine' if she would be keen to ever appear in a soap again, she added: "I'm not opposed to any work as long as it's the right role for me."
