Paula Lane is getting birthing tips from her mum for her role on 'Coronation Street'.

The actress - who plays single mum Kylie Platt on the ITV soap - is gearing up for her big scene in September by getting advice from her midwife mother about how to make it as realistic as possible.

She explained: "I'm really excited about the birthing scenes, but I'm also really nervous. Luckily my mum's a midwife so I'm going to sit down with her and the script when it eventually arrives and take her advice about which bit will be the most painful.

"The writing will tell me how to play it, but Kylie is strong and a fighter."

While her cage-dancing alter-ego Kylie isn't sure whether her baby is her husband David Platt's (Jack P. Shepherd) or his brother Nick's (Ben Price), Paula joked she gets on with both actors equally in real life and the trio are so close the boys are like her annoying brothers.

She said: "We do everything together. We're really good friends... Ben and Jack are like naughty brothers. We are like a real family and we do everything together... and Helen [Worth, who plays Gail] is like a mum to me.

"They wind me up, Jack will say to me, 'Well, they've told me David is getting back with Tina', just t see the reaction on my face. I never know if they mean it."
