Paul Hollywood believes the 'Great British Bake Off' has potential to continue for another 40 years on screen.
The kitchen legend is convinced the popular show still has a while left in it yet and thinks his co-star Mary Berry will still be judging the cooking series when she's aged 124.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said of his 81-year-old co-judge: "Look at how long 'Masterchef's been running - 20-odd years? Mary's mother came on to the set on the first series. She was 104. So you live 20 years after your parents, so Mary'll be 124. We've a few years yet."
The programme is gearing up to return to screens later this year for another series and the 50-year-old chef thinks the show works so well because he and Mary have conflicting views and different tactics when it comes to dishing advice.
He explained: "I just tell it how it is. If Mary says something informal it really means it's a catastrophic mess."
Meanwhile, it's believed the BBC could potentially lose 'GBBO' to another channel when its three-year deal with makers Love Productions runs out later this year after ITV, Channel 4 and Sky all expressed an interest in the hit show.
A source said recently: "It's no surprise all the broadcasters want a chance at landing 'Bake Off'. It really would be a fantastic fit for Channel 4. But if you were Sky or ITV why wouldn't you want the most-watched show on telly?"
However, if 'GBBO' is poached, it will have to remain off air until 2018, due to a clause in the BBC's contract.
