An all-new, full-length trailer for forthcoming Disney+ series, Pam & Tommy, has been unveiled today (January 19th, 2022), just two weeks before its release date.
Pam & Tommy will release onto Disney+ in early February 2022 under the Star banner; it is an 18+ series and will tell the shocking true story of Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee’s 1997 scandal.
Lily James (Cinderella, Baby Driver) is set to portray actress and model Pamela Anderson, while The Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Sebastian Stan will be playing musician Tommy Lee.
The upcoming eight-part series is set in the caveman days of the internet, and follows the story of Anderson and Lee’s stolen sex tape. Seized from the couple’s home by a malcontent contractor (Seth Rogan, Bad Neighbours), the video, which was supposed to be private, went from an underground bootleg-VHS to a full-blown public obsession when it hit the web in 1997.
Pam & Tommy has elements of a love story, a criminal conundrum and an intimidating realisation of how powerful the internet can really be.
The show will span eight episodes, and digs deeper into the meaning of privacy, technology and celebrity lifestyle, following the origins of what is now our current reality TV era to a stolen sex tape that was only supposed to been seen by two people, but was instead seen by millions.
The newly-released trailer for Pam & Tommy shows how quickly something can spread on the internet, and how people will go to extreme lengths, even if it means destroying others, to make some money.
James and Stan seem well-suited for their roles as Anderson and Lee; their chemistry looks to be perfect, and each actor appears to lean into their characters in an easy, professional way.
While many may not believe this story to be a big deal in the sense that it’s ‘just sex’, then all the more reason to tune in to watch this show. For something so private to be shared among millions by someone who despises you can take a toll, especially if you live your life in the public eye.
Pam & Tommy will air its first three episodes on February 2nd, 2022, with the rest of the season streaming weekly; only on Disney+ (under the Star banner).
