The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) had a phenomenal year last year (2021) in terms of content; Black Widow, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: No Way Home were released, not to mention Disney+ series like WandaVision and Hawkeye; however, 2022 will see another character take the spotlight.
The trailer for Moon Knight has just been released, and introduces one of Marvel Comics’ more complex and interesting characters, who will be portrayed by Oscar Isaac (Ex Machina, Dune).
In the comics, Moon Knight’s true identity is Marc Spector, who was a boxer, a marine, and even a CIA operative. It is said that he was left for dead in the deserts of Egypt, but managed to pull through due to a deity that saved him.
Spector also has multiple personalities, a condition known as called Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), making it hard for him to be part of a team, or complete missions with his full control.
Moon Knight’s powers are also heightened by the presence of a full moon, making him rather dangerous at night...
The trailer for Moon Knight seems to take the character’s mental disorder into the show from the comics; this will be interesting to see, as it is his DID that seems to be what allows Moon Knight, his alternative personality, to thrive.
We are simply introduced to Isaac’s Moon Knight in this trailer; Marvel has showcased the character beautifully already, with Isaac seeming to be the perfect man for the job.
Moon Knight appears to be a dark, complex and incredibly intriguing series, and fans already can’t get enough. Marvel did amazingly well in 2021 with their Disney+ shows, and it seems that success will be following the studio into 2022.
It appears as though Marc believes himself to be a man named Steven, who is seemingly living a normal life. But when someone on the other end of the phone calls him Marc, he begins to realise that his life isn’t what it seems...
Moon Knight’s costume looks incredible, and appears to be comic-accurate. Fans will no doubt be impressed by the theatrics of the newly-released trailer, and cannot wait for more information.
There is so much to look forward to with Moon Knight, such as Isaac’s entry into the MCU, the fight scenes that will undoubtably be excellent, as well as seeing how closely to the comics Isaac’s character will be related.
While there is no plot revealed as of yet, we do know that Marvel’s Moon Knight will run for six episodes, and will be releasing on March 30th, 2022, exclusively on Disney+.
