Paddy McGuinness can spend "a couple of hours" planning a trip to the supermarket with his children to ensure they are "happy".
The 'Top Gear' presenter has twins Penelope and Leo, eight, and four-year-old daughter Felicity, who are all autistic, and he admitted a routine trip to the shops can involve plenty of organisation.
He said: "There is a lot of challenges, but there's also the other side as well.
"I think the little things, even something you take for granted like putting the kids in the car and nipping to the supermarket, that process, which seems quite simple to most people, can take a couple of hours to plan and get everything in place so the kids are happy."
The 48-year-old star - who shares his three kids with his wife Christine McGuinness - recently had to leave a supermarket early, before he had chance to buy bread and milk, because his daughter needed to go.
He said: "The other day I walked into the supermarket with my youngest daughter and as soon as I walked in she put her hands over her ears and said, 'I want to leave.'
"So that day we had no bread and milk in the house, no cups of teas or anything like that.
"You've got to adjust to that during the day and then nip out on your own kind of thing."
Christine recently spoke about how a man wrongly accused her of illegally parking in a disabled space, despite her having a blue badge for parking.
Paddy has admitted he had to have a word with the guy, who said the former 'Take Me Out' presenter's kids "don't look disabled", to try to educate him about autism rather than getting angry.
Speaking on 'BBC Breakfast', he added: "I took a deep breath and explained it to him.
"I think that was the right thing to do.
"Because if I'd have gone mad and shouted and bawled, he would've gone away upset, I would've got upset and no one would've got on with it.
"So I think things like that are important to educate people and let them know why you're in that disabled spot.
"But that's only a tiny thing."
