Apple TV+ has recently revealed the trailer for a very exciting new series that will be told across three languages, and is set to grab audience’s attention upon release.
Pachinko, an upcoming drama series, will debut on Apple TV+ next month (March, 2022), and will be told in Korean, Japanese, and English; the series is based on the acclaimed New York Times bestselling novel by the same name.
The narrative starts with a forbidden love and barrels into an incredible story that spans across Japan, Korea and America, in order to tell an outstanding story of war, loss and terror, as well as peace, love and success.
Pachinko seems to have undertones of intimacy and care, as well as bravery and grief, as the show highlights the hopes and dreams of a Korean immigrant family across four generations; they have left their home in order to survive.
The story will see these characters in South Korea in the 1900s, their journey being told through the eyes of matriarch Sunja (Youn Yuh-jung), who rises up against everything standing in her way.
Sinja’s tale contrasts with that of her grandson named Soloman (Jin Ha), within the 1980s.
Soo Hugh (The Terror, The Killing) serves as both writer and executive producer; he also created the show and is the showrunner.
Kogonada and Justin Chon are executive producers and directed four episodes each, with Kogonada directing the pilot; Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer executive produce for Media Res; Theresa Kang-Lowe executive produces for Blue Marble Pictures; and Richard Middleton also executive produces.
The trailer for Pachinko highlights the beauty of these intertwined stories, showcasing how family, love and loss are often all part of the same tale.
The show definitely breathes themes of bravery and courage, not to mention adversity and the difficulty that is life; this series may prove to be unmissable.
Pachinko is set to debut on Apple TV+ everywhere on March 25th, 2022; the first three episodes will release immediately, with the rest of the season releasing every week, until the finale on April 29th, 2022.
