The 'Hollyoaks' star has landed in Australia ahead of the ITV show, which will begin on November 6th, and admitted that he is "always looking for romance", but that is not the reason he is taking part in the programme.

He said: "My mum is the one who is going to be the one missing me. I am single and ready for the jungle. I am always looking for romance but I am not going in especially for that.

"I will miss football and family most."

Owen admitted he is scared of snakes and spiders, so he isn't quite sure why he has agreed to be part of the programme.

He said: "I'm scared of all sorts of things to be fair. Snakes aren't a bit of me, I don't know why I have come to Australia! Snakes and spiders everywhere here."

But the actor insists he won't be fazed by camping with his fellow celebrities.

He added to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I don't mind a bit of camping. When the weather is nice camping is great but when it is raining and cold it is not so cold."

It comes after former 'Love Island' star Olivia Attwood, Radio DJ Chris Moyles and 'Coronation Street' star Sue Cleaver landed in Australia this week ahead of the show.

Olivia admitted she will miss having sex the most during her time on 'I'm A Celebrity'.

She said: "I mean, four weeks and no sh****** - what can you do?

"It's day one, so not much at the minute!

"But in three or four days the dogs and my fiance, probably."
