Olly Murs is being given the chance to "walk before he's pushed" from 'The X Factor'.
The 31-year-old pop star fronted the talent show alongside Caroline Flack - whose position also hangs in the balance - during the last series, but is rumoured to be on the cusp of leaving the coveted role.
A source told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "Simon Cowell likes Olly and doesn't want him to go under a cloud so he's being given the chance to walk before he's pushed. Olly always said he would never present the show without Caroline.
"They come as a package. He had a good time on the show and got on very well with everyone but realises his forte is music."
Olly is currently weighing up his different options before he decides on his next career move.
The source added: "Olly has been in discussions with his management about whether he wants to continue with the show because he's started recording and writing for his new album."
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the programme denied that Olly and Caroline's fate has already been decided.
The spokesperson said: "No decisions have been taken about the new series of 'The X Factor'."
