Olivia Colman insists she isn't upset over not being asked to star in the American remake of Broadchurch.
The 39-year-old actress - who plays Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller in the hit ITV crime drama - claims she isn't "pissed off" after her co-star David Tennant was cast in the US version of the show while she wasn't.
The role of Ellie Miller in the US series - titled 'Gracepoint' - will instead be played by 'Breaking Bad' actress Anna Gunn.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards on Monday (27.01.14), Olivia said: "No, I'm not upset. This was a Q&A I did where, as a joke, I said, 'Well they never called me!' You write that down and it sounds like I was pissed off.
"I mean, why does it matter? I don't understand why everyone is so bothered by it. I mean it's an American show, they should cast American people. If it was a British show and we cast all Americans that would be wrong, wouldn't it? Sorry, it's just that at the moment everyone has said, 'Are you really cross?' "
But Olivia admits she wouldn't turn down an opportunity to star in the upcoming remake.
She added: "It's never crossed my mind. If they asked me to do something that would be lovely ... if it was a good script, the characters are warm, and they play well."
'Gracepoint' - which will air on US channel FOX later this year - has cast several high profile stars including Nick Nolte, Jackie Weaver, Jessica Lucas and Michael Pena.
