AJ Odudu joked that Zig and Zag were absent from 'The Big Breakfast's comeback because of Priti Pratel.
The 33-year-old presenter starred alongside Mo Gilligan as the show made its long-awaited return to Channel 4, and AJ blamed the absence of the puppets on the Home Secretary.
During the one-off special, Mo said: "We need to really address elephant in the room. And it's not my lockdown belly, I know you were looking at it."
AJ then joked that Zig and Zag returned to their home planet in 2005 after a "moth pandemic".
She explained that although they've tried to make a return, they've been blocked by the Home Secretary.
Mo said: "We know you're probably wondering, where are Zig and Zag?"
And AJ added: "Sad news, they both got seriously affected by the great moth pandemic of 2005 and emigrated back to the Planet Zog.
"Now Priti Patel won't let them back in!"
Then, Mo said: "No puppet is safe, Sooty and Sweep watch your back, my guys."
'The Big Breakfast' returned to TV screens as part of Channel 4's special day of programming to celebrate black talent.
And AJ joked about the lack of diversity on 'The Big Breakfast' during the show's original run.
She quipped: "History was made here, you know Chris Evans became one of the first ginger presenters on breakfast TV.
"That's what passed as diversity back then."
Krishnan Guru-Murthy, the host of 'Channel 4 News', has already suggested that 'The Big Breakfast' should make a permanent return to TV screens.
He wrote on Twitter: "#TheBigBreakfast is back!!! And it’s already brilliant. Clearly just what Britain needs right now. Currently just for one day UNLESS popular demand changes that. You can change TV history…. (sic)"
